About MaShana

MaShana joined the NIH Library in 2010 through the National Library of Medicine (NLM) Associate Fellowship Program. She currently serves as the Library's Information Architect employing her skills in web development and design, database management, communications and marketing, social media, training, and project management to fullfill the mission of the Library.

What MaShana Can Do For You

MaShana serves as web project manager for the Custom Information Solutions Service, which is focused on building partnerships to meet the information needs of researchers through the development and application of information tools. Recent efforts have included digitization of a thousand volumes for public access, consulting support to deploy a NIH-wide researcher profiling system (virtual CV's) to encourage collaboration, development of Drupal-based project web sites including one focused on historic pandemic influenza research, and consulting/development of disease space portfolio analyses.

MaShana also serves as team lead for the Library's Technology Sandbox, a creative digital commons for NIH and HHS community to explore, discover, collaborate, develop and share new technologies. The Sandbox contains three activity zones: Collaboration, Information and a Storefront. MaShana provides guidance and monitors activities in these areas, facilitates and builds partnerships to with NIH and HHS to enhance the space, and manages the Sandbox team's activities.
